During last week, Adriatic Gate Container Terminal in Rijeka reached a major milestone by surpassing the 400,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) mark, setting a new record for both 2024 and the terminal’s entire history.

The 400,000 TEU milestone reflects AGCT's importance as one of the central hubs for container handling in the Adriatic. With this impressive throughput, Rijeka continues to prove its significance as one of the key entry points for cargo for Southeast Europe and Central Europe.

CEO Emmanuel Papagianakis shared his thoughts on the achievement, saying:

"This milestone is the result of the hard work and dedication of our all  AGCT employees. . Following a challenging start to the year with the Red Sea crisis, terminal has shown resilience to recover and even grow with stabilization of services. We also extend our sincere thanks to our valued customers for entrusting us with their cargo. We are committed to maintaining the high standards that have allowed us to grow and continue playing a key role in the global supply chain. With majority of cargo handled for countries outside Croatia, the achievement  also reconfirms the crucial importance of rail as the only means of growth for the Port of Rijeka.
