AGCT participated in the international conference Transport & Logistics 2026, held on 16–17 April in Opatija and Rijeka, which brought together more than 100 experts from 12 countries with the aim of connecting science and practice in the field of transport and logistics.

Representing Adriatic Gate Container Terminal, CEO Inigo Nuñez Mendibe took part in the conference discussions, contributing to key topics such as logistics digitalization, supply chain resilience, and the development of Rijeka as an important logistics hub.

Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of further infrastructure development, including the completion of the lowland railway towards Central Europe, as well as the need to accelerate administrative and environmental procedures.

Commenting on the current position of Rijeka, Inigo Nuñez Mendibe highlighted:
“Currently, Rijeka as a port is in a strong position with open capacity, both at container terminal level but also from a rail infrastructure and service offering level, which translates into an efficient and reliable corridor to the respective markets that it serves.

This above, combined with all the recent investments to enhance operational capability and ability to serve some of the largest container vessels in the world, is a very welcomed message in the market right now, also given the operational constraints in other Adriatic ports, even some North European ports.”

The conference concluded with an optimistic outlook on the potential of the Rijeka transport route to position itself as one of Europe’s key corridors.
