At Adriatic Gate Container Terminal, caring for the marine environment is a long-standing commitment. Each year, around World Oceans Day, we organize an underwater clean-up in the waters surrounding our terminal, contributing to the preservation of the Adriatic Sea.
This year's initiative, held on 18 June 2026, was organized in partnership with Deep Cleanup – Society for Marine Protection and Research, with logistical support from Pelagos Diving Center.
Taking advantage of the window between vessel calls, we had the unique opportunity to clean the entire length of our operational quay—an area normally occupied by container vessels. A team of 19 divers, including four Adriatic Gate Container Terminal employees, removed more than 750 kilograms of waste from the seabed, including approximately 350 kg of plastic and mixed debris and over 400 kg of metal waste. All collected waste was responsibly sorted and disposed of.
We are especially proud that our own colleagues joined the initiative, demonstrating that environmental responsibility extends beyond our daily operations and is embedded in our company culture.
A heartfelt thank you to all divers, volunteers and partners who contributed to another successful clean-up. Together, we continue to protect the Adriatic Sea for future generations.
