First partnership meeting of the project Promoting Excellence in Skills for the Labor Market through the Institutionalization of Professional Practice in Maritime Education - PANDORA was held in Rijeka last Friday, July 3rd 2020.

 

University of Rijeka, Faculty of Maritime Studies is the project holder, and the project partners are: Adriatic Gate j.s.c., Shipyard Viktor Lenac d.d., Maersk Croatia d.o.o., Inelteh d.o.o., A-Z Marine d.o.o., Express d.o.o. and Liburnia Maritime Agency d.o.o., all Companies from the maritime economy which are, with their operational and professional capacities crucial for the implementation of this project. All partners attended the partnership meeting.

 

The project length is 36 months, officially started on March 9th 2020, and was submitted and approved within the call "Development, improvement and implementation of professional practice in higher education" from the European Social Fund in the financial period 2014-2020. The goal of the PANDORA project is to build institutional capacity of the Faculty for the implementation of professional practice, improving the learning model through student’s work and practical skills acquisition in order to achieve better employability and readiness to perform jobs in the labor market.

 

The following necessary steps for the implementation of main project elements were discussed at the meeting::

  • Improvement of the existing models of professional practice implementation for the existing undergraduate and graduate studies of the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Rijeka and
  • Implementation of professional practice
