As of May Hapag Lloyd decided to increase the TEU capacity of container vessels which are part of its regular ADX service calling Rijeka.

ADX service, that used to come in Rijeka via Port Said, has changed its route and is now starting from the port of Damietta, where it connects to "The Alliance" service with the Far East.

The ALLIANCE is the third largest shippin alliance, composed by Hapag Lloyd and UASC (whose merger is currently in progress), MOL, Yang Ming, NYK and K-Line. The Alliance is the only alliance that is not entering Adriatic sea directly with its Far East service.

New ADX service route: Damietta – Piraeus – Ancona – Koper – Rijeka – Venice – Piraeus - Damietta

Vessels Louisa Schulte and Hansa Limburg (with nominal capacity of 1800 TEU), which were calling Rijeka regularly within the ADX service, will be replaced by larger vessels. The 222-meter-long Odysseus (2824 TEU) had its maiden call in Rijeka on May 10th, and will alternate every second voyage with a 228-foot Sagitta (3400 TEU).
