After several months of successful test runs, as of this week COSCO officially launches regular weekly rail service between Rijeka and Budapest.

This rail service adds on to the new COSCO Piraeus – Rijeka Express service, which was also launched earlier this week. First call of the container vessel m/v Andante was on Monday, July 22nd, and already the day after, on Tuesday July 23rd containers discharged from that vessel were loaded on two trains on their way to Hungary.

Yesterday, on Thursday 25th those trains were discharged at the container terminal Bilk in Budapest and today they are already on their way to Rijeka, ETA tomorrow.

Containers from Hungary will be discharged at AGCT over weekend, and loaded to m/v Andante on Monday, further sailing to their final destination via Piraeus.

HŽ Cargo and Rail Cargo Operator – Hungaria Kft. are partners on this project securing railway transportation.

Interlinking overseas and rail services within the term Rijeka Landsea Express, Cosco offers its clients overall transit time to Budapest 32 days from East China and 28 days from South China, also proving that they recognise the importance Rijeka has as the North Adriatic Gateway for Central and SE Europe.
