Last week we hosted a practicum for students at AGCT in order to present them with a typical working day of a container terminal and familiarize them with all the operational processes involved. Although initially planned as students visit, due to the situation and valid measures we’ve had to held it as an on line event.
Practicum was organized within the PANDORA project (Promoting skills excellence for the labor market through the institutionalization of professional practice in maritime education). The turnout was very good with over 40 students from the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Rijeka participating.
Following Ivana's, our HR Manager introductory word, Milan, Operations Superintendent presented the Operations Center and division of roles within in it. After that, Iva, Commercial Coordinator visited each of the sub-departments within the Operation center and interviewed the following: Mateo on behalf of vessel planners, Tea on behalf of Yard and Intermodal Planners, Anita on behalf of Administration and Customer support, and finally Adrian on behalf of CFS & General Cargo.
The goal was to present the students with a walkthrough through different activities and roles performed every day at a container terminal, familiarizing them with all the different processes involved.
Feedback from the students was great, and hopefully we’ll be seeing some of them in the future as our colleagues as well.
